Points of interest are not just those designated as a historic landmarks or a pin points on a map with a five star rating. Making our way to more oysters, we passed these carriages parked in the sunset used usher patrons to the more popular points of the city.

The stiff breeze we found at Charleston’s Waterfront Park provided respite from the heat and the requisite energy for the sailors to enjoy a late afternoon on the water.

Intermixed with the pastel hues of Charleston are walls with varying amounts of texture created by the weathering and aging of the layers of finish.

Charleston’s skyline is topped by numerous steeples including the one incorporated into St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church.

The pastel color palette found in Charleston’s downtown gives the city a unique feeling reminiscent of the small towns nestled in the hills of Caribbean islands or the Deco architecture stylings of Miami Beach.

As the city sleeps for the night, the ambient light from this market’s signs provides passersby with just enough illumination to make their way through the sleepy side streets.

Wondering the streets of the historic center of Charleston was like walking through a postcard. Palmettos fronted pastel facades on every block. A welcome breeze lowered the temperature while rustling the palms and adornments on the buildings.

The northern portions of Charleston are in a state of flux. Transitioning from what once was to what will be. A man walks in front of a warehouse previously for industry perhaps destined to be transitioned to the next contemporary bar, restaurant, or condo filled with patrons having little regard for the past.

Navigating by foot to the northern side of Charleston proved to be somewhat of a challenge. This parkway creates a manmade barrier between the northeast and southern portions of the city.
